RENOVATION UPDATE INFO August 27, 2008
|
|
Wayside Theatre has RETURNED to our newly renovated facility on July 12th for the Opening of "Always...Patsy Cline for the 2008-2009 Season.
Our patrons who have attended our season opener, have been thrilled with the renovations to the theatre facility. Many expressing thank yous for the new seats and restrooms.
So, if you have yet to visit Wayside Theatre, I want to tell you what you can expect when you come to the theatre this summer. Most of the work in Phase I of our renovation and expansion has been about infrastructure and things you might never see. Such as: New roof, New plumbing, New stage lighting grid, New electrical install for the stage lighting system, New install for the theatre sound system, The lobby has been given a makeover, Improvements to the HVAC systems, The addition of a new restroom for the handicapped to comply with ADA standards, The entire building has been repainted, New roof and new columns have been installed over the entrance to the theatre, New auditorium floor, New stage floor, makeover of the Box Office, New carpet, etc, and New Seats.
All of the work above cost us over $650,000. With the exception of the new seats and the cosmetic changes I imagine everything we've accomplished will make you fell like you've come home again, only with a bit more comfort. And that's the point. One of our goals was to retain the charm and intimacy of the theatre. The two things we heard the most from our audiences was that we had to keep the character, the charm, and the intimacy of the theatre, and that you wanted new seats. We think we've accomplished both.
We've got some great music, great comedy, great mystery, and great storytelling planned for you and I think you'll not only appreciate the great entertainment and exciting artists on our stage, but you'll also appreciate the renovations we've accomplished at this historic little theatre with a big heart.
I'm very much looking forward to welcoming you bank home to Wayside Theatre this fall.
See you at the theatre! Warner Crocker Artistic Director Wayside Theatre
